Swansea City can enter the automatic promotion spots for at least a day with a Friday night win over visiting Millwall.
League leaders Queens Park Rangers will continue their promotion push with a Friday night clash against Watford.

Second place Cardiff City will be looking to end a run of bad form when they travel to face struggling Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

Playoff contenders Norwich City and Coventry City will be looking to continue their good form when they face off against Portsmouth and Reading respectively.

At the bottom end of the table, rock bottom Preston North End will be looking for victory against a struggling Ipswich Town, while Crytal Palace can climb out of the relegation zone with a win over fellow strugglers Hull City.

The planned game between Scunthorpe United and Nottingham Forest has been postponed due to freezing weather conditions.
 

League leaders Queens Park Rangers will look to remain undefeated on Friday night when they face Watford at Loftus Road. Watford will be looking to continue a three game unbeaten streak and need a victory to get back within touching distance of the playoff spots.





Striker Heidar Helguson is fit to return for a QPR team that has no fresh injury concerns. Watford also have no new fitness worries, and will be boosted by the return of former QPR player Michael Bryan.



Third place Swansea City will be able to move into the automatic promotion spots if only for one day with victory over Millwall. Millwall need a win to close the five point gap between themselves and the playoff zone.





Swansea will be boosted by the return of Captain Garry Monk, who will return after recovering has recovered from a calf injury. Jermain Easter will receive a late fitness test ahead of making his possible Swans debut. Tom Butler has been ruled out with a thigh injury.





Millwall may be boosted by the return of striker Kevin Lisbie, and midfielder Liam Trotter is doubtful with a thigh problem.



High flying Norwich City will look to continue their run of good form when they play host to Portsmouth. Norwich have climbed to fourth place on the back of a six game unbeaten streak.





Leading goal scorer Grant Holt will be out for Norwich due to suspension, and the Canaries also have a lengthy injury list including Andrew Surnam, Adam Drury and Zak Whitbread.





Hermann Hreidarsson is still injured for Portsmouth while Carl Dickinson is suspended. Hayden Mullins could play despite the fact he is struggling with a knee injury.



Playoff contenders Coventry City will travel to Reading looking for their fourth straight win. Mid-table Reading will enter the game riding a streak of four consecutive draws. In a statistical quirk, Reading also have four players tied for leading scorer, with all four men having scored four goals!





Reading Captain Matt Mills will return from suspension against Coventry, while star winger Jimmy Kebe could return from injury.





Coventry will be without defenders Ben Turner and Stephen O’Halloran. Midfielder Sammy Clingan is also out for City.



Struggling Middlesbrough will be looking for points in their relegation struggle when they play host to second place Cardiff City. This game comes around with both teams in poor form, Middlesbrough are on a four game win streak, while Cardiff have not registered a victory in three matches.





Middlesbrough could be without striker Leroy Lita who is suffering from an illness that has struck the Boro training ground. Barry Robson has been affected by the bug but could return against Cardiff.





Center back David Wheater will be suspended, with youth academy product Seb Hines the possible replacement.





Cardiff will be without leading goal scorer Jay Bothroyd, who suffered a grade one hamstring tear. Darcy Blake and Jason Koumas look likely to return for the Bluebirds.



Preston North End play host to struggling Ipswich Town in desperate need of points to climb off the bottom of the table. Despite Carling Cup glory, Ipswich are on a run of five straight Championship defeats and manager Roy Keane needs a win to lift pressure from the fans and stop their slide into the relegation battle.





Callum Davidson is available to be selected for Preston after returning from injury, while Sean St Ledger is ruled out.





Mark Kennedy could reurn for Ipswich, who will be without Connor Wickham, Luke Hyam and Gareth McAuley.



Leicester City and Doncaster Rovers will go head to head at the Walkers Stadium, with both teams needing a win to keep up a playoff challenge.





West Bromwich Albion loanee Roman Bednar should feature in the Leicester attack after shaking off an injury, while Miguel Vitor is also fit to play. On loan goalkeeper Chris Kirkland is pushing for inclusion after recovery from a recent back injury.





Doncaster will be without defender Mustapha Dumbaya, George Friend and Simon Gillett who are all on the injury list.





James Hayter will feature in the Rovers attack and was recently name Championship Player of the Month for November. Hayter received the award after a run of scoring in five consecutive games. Hayter could be partnered by Northern Ireland international David Healy, who has extended his loan spell from Sunderland.



Barnsley have climbed away from the bottom three on the back of a four game unbeaten streak, while opponents Sheffield United need a win as they sit only two points above the drop zone.





Nathan Doyle will return from suspension for Barnsley, while Matt Hill may be fit to return from a foot injury. Martin Devaney is out with a hamstring strain.





Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Danny Batth may make his debut for Sheffield United in this game. Jamie Ward is a doubt for the Blades with an Achilles injury, while striker Daniel Bogdanovic is suspended.



Bristol City will be looking for their third straight victory when they play host to playoff contenders Derby County. The recent good form of Bristol led to Keith Millen being given the Manager of the Month Award for November. Derby have fallen out of the playoff spots after back to back defeats, and will be looking to return to winning ways at Ashton Gate.





Leading goal scorer Jon Stead and defender Christian Ribeiro will be fit for Bristol, while Louis Carey has been ruled out with a torn calf muscle.





Striker Alberto Bueno looks set to return for Derby after suffering a hamstring problem. Jake Buxton and Miles Addison are ruled out with injury for the Rams.





This game will be the last for the loan deals of goalkeeper Frank Fielding and striker Shefki Kuqi. Derby told BBC Sport this week that they are still considering the extension of both loan deals.



Burnley have the opportunity to leapfrog sixth place Leeds United in the playoff race when the two teams meet at Turf Moor. Burnley will be looking to continue their good form where they have only lost once, while Leeds will be looking to extend a seven game unbeaten streak.





Martin Paterson and Chris Eagles will receive late fitness tests for Burnley, while left back Danny Fox is ruled out with an ankle problem.





Paul Connolly will be eligible for Leeds after returning from suspension. Richard Naylor and Patrick Kisnorbo are long term absentees for United.






Crystal Palace play host to Hull City in an important relegation fight. Place sit in the bottom three, while despite Hull’s recent good form they are only two points above the Eagles.





Owen Garvan will return from suspension for Palace, who will be hoping inspirational midfielder Darren Ambrose can shake off a dead leg in time to play.





Paddy McCarthy is doubtful for Palace, while Hull City lonee Anthony Gardner is ineligible to play against his parent club.





Hull will be hoping for the return from injury of Captain Ian Ashbee and Daniel Ayala. Craig Fagan, Caleb Folan and Jimmy Bullard are all ruled out for the Tigers.
