While Manchester City and Arsenal failed to impress the audience during their highly-anticipated weekend clash, this top-of-the-table Premier League battle garnered record-breaking viewership in the USA.
Not only was this fixture the most-watched game in the United States for March 25-26, 2024, but this goalless draw was also the most-watched Premier League match in the USA in history, earning 2.04 million average viewers across NBC and Telemundo — the inclusion of Peacock takes the total viewership figure to 2.12M.
Of the 2.04 million, 1.57 million came courtesy of NBC, with their coverage earning a rating of 0.8. Meanwhile, 470,000 average viewers tuned in to Telemundo to watch these two Premier League giants share the points.
To no one's surprise, the other two games in the top three most-watched games in the USA last week went to Liga MX, with both being covered by Univision. The first was Cruz Azul's goalless draw with Pumas UNAM, a result which saw La Máquina drop to fifth in the table.
A total of 721,000 average viewers tuned in, narrowly edging out the third fixture on this list: Monterrey 0-2 Guadalajara. This tie earned an average viewership of 704,000 and a rating of 0.34 as Rayados lost their grip on the no.1 spot to Club America following this defeat.
