The Frenchman has been offered a deal by the Spanish giants but according to the Athletic, his camp is split over Los Blancos' proposal.

While recent reports suggested that Kylian Mbappe's move to Real Madrid is all but done, this does not appear to be the case. In fact, one of the industry's most credible sources now claims a hiccup between the player and the Spanish giants.

That news outlet is the Athletic, whose report states that Mbappe's camp has doubts over the latest offer for the Frenchman. This mainly stems from the salary on offer.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will be out of contract this summer and Florentino Perez has tabled an offer to bring the highly-rated 25-year-old to Santiago Bernabeu. However, Real Madrid's current offer is less than what they were willing to pay him back in 2022 prior to extending his PSG deal.

Mbappe was also nearing the end of his PSG in 2022 as well. However, Real Madrid offered him a €130M signing-on fee plus €26m per year in wages. While the exact figures behind Los Blancos' current offer were not mentioned in this report, it is said to be less than that.

Additionally, Real Madrid's offer is also less than what Mbappe's Ligue 1 employers are willing to pay the attacker. The French giants tabled an offer a couple of months ago that would keep Kylian in the French capital on a short or long-term basis for €75M after tax.

Nonetheless, while the Spanish giants cannot offer what PSG are ready to pay, Florentino Perez is still confident of getting this deal done. Additionally, Les Parisiens are also "pessimistic" about their odds of keeping Mbappe in Paris.

Regardless, the player's camp is split over this offer, with "important voices" pointing out that Real Madrid's offer is less than what he currently earns and what he stands to earn if he moves elsewhere. Despite this, Real Madrid are one of, if not the biggest club in the globe and that would exponentially raise his profile.

As for now, Mbappe is preparing for a crucial UEFA Champions League game. The round of 16 kicks off this midweek, with Luis Enrique's side taking to the field on Wednesday in their showdown with Real Sociedad. Real Madrid, on the flip side, are in action on Tuesday, visiting RB Leipzig for the first leg of their matchup.
