The French superstar is out of contract this summer and appears destined to move to Madrid. But has he already agreed to join the Spanish giants?

Kylian Mbappe's camp has issued an official statement after a report emerged claiming the French superstar has already agreed to join Real Madrid this summer when his PSG contract runs out.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has entered the final few months of his contract and has thus been free to negotiate with any club since January 1. Los Blancos have a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old and according to Foot Mercato, the Spanish giants got the Frenchman to agree to a Santiago Bernabeu switch this summer a few days ago.

The Ligue 1 sensation has a clause in his current deal to extend its duration until 2025. However, only the player can trigger that clause and the attacker has turned down that option, instead opting to run down his contract.

According to Foot Mercato, the former Monaco ace has thus opted to reach an early agreement with Real Madrid as Los Blancos are keen on avoiding missing out on the Frenchman after two previous failed attempts to sign him.

But is the report even accurate? Mbappe's camp swiftly came out to issue a response once the aforementioned article attained tremendous traction. Their statement: Kylian has not yet reached any agreement regarding his future.

This message, which was relayed to RMC Sport, has poured cold water on any claim of a pre-contract agreement. The reasons are understandable: Mbappe is still a PSG player and is pursuing the UEFA Champions League and Ligue 1 titles this season. Deciding to jump ships while the season is ongoing can be decisive.

Additionally, Les Parisiens have not given up on getting the player to extend. While Mbappe has shown no desire to stay at the Parc des Princes past this season, this could be leveraged against Real Madrid who are reportedly keen on offering Kylian lower terms than in 2022.

Both Real Madrid and PSG are top of the table in their domestic leagues. However, Luis Enrique's side have not played a Ligue 1 game as the French top flight has been on a break since Christmas. However, the action will return this Friday while Mbappe and Co. resume their title defense with an interesting trip to Lens on Sunday.
