The Rojiblancos striker has refused to criticize his former teammate for sealing a move to the Catalan club.

Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa has jumped to the defense of his former teammate Antoine Griezmann who completed a move to Barcelona this summer. The Spanish striker insisted that there is no bad blood between the Frenchman and his former teammates as it was his dream to move to the Camp Nou outfit.

After announcing his decision to commit his long-term future to Atletico which ended a rumored transfer to Barca last year, Griezmann made a U-turn and eventually secured a switch to the Catalans this summer. The controversial transfer cost the Blaugrana €120 million (£108 million/$135 million) and the player subsequently signed a five-year-contract to stay at the club until 2024.

The French striker's move created the space for Atletico to sign Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix from Benfica and according to Diego Costa, the former's decision has been accepted in good faith by his ex-teammates.

"[Griezmann's] dream was to play with [Lionel] Messi and [Luis] Suarez,"he told Que Partidazo.

"As a footballer you always want to test yourself and it is normal that he would want to play there, to see if he can be an important player as he was at Atleti.

"We cannot say anything bad."

"If all that with the video hadn't happened, it would have been a quiet exit," Costa added.
