Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was the subject of ridicule and criticism on social media on Thursday. Here’s how it all started - the Portugal captain posted a photo of himself next to a Buddha statue at the background of his house in Madrid.

The Buddha is a highly religious figure among Buddhists and judging from Ronaldo’s picture, he was wrong to step on the holy statue. Although the Facebook post from the former Man United man was simply meant to wish his fans a good morning, it did not go down well with those Buddhists who are also fans.
