League leaders PSV were not able to get three points from their away match at De Graafschap on Saturday: 0-0.
League leaders PSV were not able to get three points from their away match at De Graafschap on Saturday. After an Orlando Engelaar red card in the 35th minute the home team had the better chances but they did not manage to score. Eventually both teams ended the match with ten men when Yuri Rose received his second yellor card in the 79th minute. FC Twente can take over the lead if they win at sc Heerenveen on Sunday.

On Friday Nigerian Michael Uchebo handed coach Jan van Dijk a nice birthday present when he scored to hand VVV a 2-2 draw at Hercales in the last minute. Hercales were the better team in the first hour of the match but they gave away a 2-0 lead in the last half hour.

On Sunday everyone will be eyeing Frank de Boer’s league debut a Ajax’ head coach. On Wednesday the former Ajax-defender, who took over after Martin Jol left the club by mutual agreement on Monday, had a kick start in the Champions League. The Ajax squad looked astonishingly fresh and eager when they blew away AC Milan 2-0 in the San Siro stadium. On Sunday De Boer will meet Vitesse, with Albert Ferrer on the bench.

Jan van Dijk celebrated his birthday with an surprise point at Hercales on Friday. The VVV coach turned 54 on the day his team grabbed their 10th point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Heracles. Nigerian Michael Uchebo scored the equalizer in the 92nd minute.

Hercales started well, but they forgot to convert their domination into goals. At the end of the first half the home team seemed to settle things however. Everton (37') and Samuel Armenteros (42’) scored and Hercales took a comfortable lead into the half time break.

In the second half Hercales had a handful of good opportunities again, but an unexpected Ruud Boymans goal turned things around. An inspired VVV fought back and were rewarded for a good display in the last half hour when Uchebo handed his team a point with his late goal.

NAC improved on their already impressive home record when they defeated FC Utrecht 3-1 on Saturday, winning their eighth of ten home matches this season. The Brabanders only took one point in away matches, but their supremacy at home got them in the top half of the table after 17 matches.

John Karelse en Gert Aandewiel started with the same lineup which defeated PSV 4-2 two weeks ago, but Utrecht took the initiative. Michael Silberbauer scored the opener for the visitors in the ninth minute. Three minutes later Csaba Fehér already equalized and the Utrecht power slowly faded away. “We played good for half an hour and then we were finished”, coach Ton du Chatinier said.

NAC were the better team in the second half. When a Matthew Amoah header went in after a deflection from Alje Schut, the match was over. It marked the fourth own goal by the unlucky Utrecht defender. Kees Luijckx added the 3-1 in the 67th minute.

Before the match Harm van Veldhoven and John van den Brom agreed upon the fact that Roda and ADO were pretty even and after the match both coaches agreed that the match between their teams had not been very exciting, which led to a poor 1-1 draw.

“We had the better chances, but we really did not deserve more than the point we got”, Van den Brom said. “There’s not much more to say to it than a 1-1 draw”, Van Veldhoven added. The Roda coach did however regretted the quick equalizer after his team got an early lead thanks to a Wuillem Janssen goal in the ninth minute. “That was pretty sloppy”, Van Veldhoven said.

Dmitri Bulykin headed home the 1-1 from a Charlton Vicento corner in the 13th minute. The Russian striker scored his 11th goal of the season.

Willem II equaled their record streak matches without a win in the Eredivisie when they lost 3-1 at NEC on Saturday. The last win of the tricolores came on 14 March 2010 against Sparta (3-1) and from then on they were winless for 25 matches in a row. It was Willem II’s 14th loss this season.

In De Goffert Willem II, who played without injured captian Evgeny Levchenko, again were not able to live up to the level of the Dutch top flight and Eredivisie top scorer Björn Vleminckx scored 1-0 in the 13th minute. After the goal the home team did not push through and they gave Willem II a chance to come back into the match when Andreas Lasnik converted a spot kick in de 38th minute.

In the second half NEC geared up and Lasse Schöne (55’) hit the target with a long range shot and John Goossens scored the 3-1 in the 66th minute. NEC’s win marked the first time the Red-Black-Green brigade defeated Willem II twice in the same season.

De Graafschap lost their away match in Eindhoven 6-0 earlier this season. One of the main causes was an early Purrel Fränkel red card. In the return on Saturday PSV’s Orlando Engelaar received a red card in the 35th minute and De Graafschap took advantage. The twelfth ranked ‘Superboeren’ held the League Leaders to a 0-0 draw.

After Engelaar’s red card PSV only played for the draw, thus annoying the fans who travelled with them to Doetinchem. In the second half De Graafschap had some good chances to score, but substitute Hugo Bargas shot wide and Rydell Poepon could not get passed Andreas Isaksson.

When Yuri Rose received his second yellow card in the 79th minute PSV yet tried to push De Graafschap back, but it was too little too late. The 0-0 marked De Graafschap’s first point against PSV since 5 May 2002, when they drew 2-2. The Superboeren lost their last four home matches against PSV.
