Italian champions AC Milan move within one point of league leaders Juventus after hitting three past a sluggish Cagliari on Sunday.
The Rossoneri closed the gap on Serie A league leaders Juventus to just a single point after thrashing Cagliari 3-0 at the San Siro stadium on Sunday.

Milan won the game courtesy of goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Antonio Nocerino and Massimo Ambrosini to cap off a remarkable display that further highlighted their attacking strength.

Massimiliano Allegri's side created plenty of goal-scoring opportunities in the first half, but although they peppered the Cagliari goal they couldn't find a way past goalkeeper Michael Agazzi, who pulled off a number of fine saves.

However, it took a moment of magic from Ibrahimovic to break the deadlock. After being fouled outside of the area in the 32nd minute, the Swedish scoring-machine picked himself up and curled home a spectacular free-kick to the delight of the home fans.

Seven minutes later Ibrahimovic turned from scorer to provider by setting up Milan's second goal, when he chested down a long ball for Nocerino who fired the ball home on the half-volley from the edge of the area.

The pace of the game slowed down in the second period, as strangely enough the visitors kept the ball between themselves for large periods as they gradually moved up the field and tried to mount worthwhile attacks on the Milan goal.

But their approach seemed to play into Milan's hands, who added their third goal in the 75th minute through Massimo Ambrosini. The experienced midfielder met a squared ball from Urby Emanuelson on the edge of the area and rushed into the area to slide the ball into the back of the net with the outside of his right boot.

Milan could have won the game by a greater difference after creating a number of clear-cut opportunities, but settled for a comprehensive victory to close the gap on league leaders Juventus.
