Could there have been anything more thrilling for FC Twente than to open their first ever UEFA Champions League campaign with a match against titleholders Inter Milan?

Is there any chance for the Dutch champions to start on a good note against last season’s treble winners? Defender Wout Brama thinks ‘yes’.

Last season, UEFA Champions League winners Inter Milan kicked off their European campaign with an away game as well. The meeting, which was against Barcelona, ended 0-0 in disappointing fashion. This term, FC Twente are keen to still some points away from the Italian Serie A champions. Speaking to UEFA.com, Twente defender Wout Brama stated:

“I’m looking forward to the match with a lot excitement. It’s going to be hard. But, we have a chance. We always create chances at home.

“The most important thing for us is not to approach this match as if it was a bonus. It is the UEFA Champions League, and we are the Dutch champions by the way. We must show that.”

FC Twente vs Inter Milan will mark the Dutch side’s first appearance in the UEFA Champions League. Coach Preud’homme, who has replaced former boss McClaren, is aware of how important it is for Twente fans to keep the club’s dream alive. Ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Inter Milan, the Belgium man said:

“We are now here [in the Champions League] and we will try to make the best of it. It’s nice to start at home to Inter Milan. We have everything to win but nothing to lose.”
