Lionel Messi has finally put the exit rumors to rest. The legendary Barcelona attacker official put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2020-2021 season, as announced by the club.
The Argentine’s previous deal was set to expire in the upcoming summer, leaving many speculating that he might finally leave Camp Nou. However, La Pulga is ready to remain at the club he joined when he was 13.
The 30-year-old’s buyout clause has been set at a staggering $835M, an untouchable fee for even the likes of PSG. So far, La Pulga has spent 14 seasons with the first team, with that number set to reach 17 when his new deal expires.
This means the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will continue breaking records – if there are any left – and tormenting defenders in La Liga. He has made 602 appearances and counting for the club in all competitions, scoring 523 goals along the way.
