John W Henry was confident he would be in charge of Liverpool before the start of this weekend. Indeed, New England Sports Venture are officially Liverpool’s new owners.
The news was confirmed at 3:55pm in England at the relief of many of the club’s supporters. Speaking to the media after successfully completing his £300M takeover of the Merseyside Reds, John W Henry declared:

“I’m proud and humble. Now, we have a lot of work to do. I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally complete the deal. We’re not going to have a lot to say. Our actions will speak for us.

A statement from NESV’s principal owner, John W Henry, also told:

"On behalf of the entire NESV partnership, I want to express how incredibly proud and humbled we are to be confirmed as the new owners of Liverpool FC. We regard our role as that of stewards for the club, with a primary focus on returning the club to greatness, on and off the field for the long-term.

"We are committed first and foremost to winning. We have a history of winning, and today we want LFC supporters to know that this approach is what we intend to bring to this great club."

But are Liverpool’s troubles really on the verge of being buried? Well, if Liverpool and their fans are preparing for Sunday’s derby match against Everton in the English Premier League, Tom Hicks and George Gillett are also preparing for something else: the former club owners want to launch an attack, a $1.6 billion lawsuit for they claim to be “damages”. Watch out for more action – not on the pitch, but in the court rooms…
