Steven Pienaar is officially no longer an Everton player. The South African star turned down an offer from Chelsea to sign for Tottenham Hotspur - it was revealed earlier today through his Twitter account.
A few days ago, Pienaar was the target of both Londoners. But the Blues were unable to meet the personal demands of the player, which eventually gave Tottenham the advantage in their transfer race for the midfielder. Finalizing all conjectures on his transfer saga, Pienaar tweeted: “To end speculation, I am going to Spurs. I've had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart. I can also confirm I'll be jersey number 40.”

Members of the Tottenham board also expressed their cheerfulness in their vital signing, through the club’s official website: "We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Everton and Steven Pienaar for the player's transfer to the club."

Pienaar, now a former Everton player, is on a 4-year contract with Spurs. According to Jermain Defoe, his arrival now gives Tottenham a greater image among their challengers in the Premier League.
