Title Challengers Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in a Premier League encounter on Sunday, the 27th of October 2013.

Chelsea host Manchester City as Mourinho and Pellegrini come head to head on October 27, 2013.Preview: Jose looking to get the better of Pellegrini again

The special one has an impressive record against his counterpart having played Pellegrini’s Malaga on a number of occasions during his time as the head coach of Spanish giants Real Madrid. Manuel Pellegrini was only once able to get the better of Mourinho’s Real Madrid in five Primera Liga meetings, but suffered heavy defeats which included a 7-0 mauling at the hands of the Castillian club in 2011 and a 6-2 defeat last season both at the Bernabeu.

Mourinho will once again be hoping to turn the home advantage in his own favour when Chelsea welcome the Citizens to the Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are at the back of a 3-0 victory against German outfit Schalke and will be hoping to keep the momentum going.

The Portuguese tactician who had his strikers suffering from a goal drought can now breathe a sigh of relief with both Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o grabbing goals in their recent appearances against Schalke and Cardiff City respectively and the ‘special one’ has lauded the duo for their hard work

"I'm happy with all the strikers," Mourinho said.

"They were not scoring goals but they were working really hard and doing a good job for the team.

"There are different ways of contributing. Sometimes scoring goals, which is the most important thing of course."

"Last week was a positive week for Samuel and Fernando because they scored goals."

The Blues are unbeaten in seven games and have scored 14 goals in their last four. Their antics have put them second in the league table, a point and two places above their opponents on Sunday.
They will be against a side which has recovered well since their humiliating loss at the hands of Bayern Munich. City have won all three of their previous matches and in their last outing against CSKA Moscow, the sky blues scored a crucial 2-1 victory in Russia playing in unorthodox conditions.

Man City have benefited from the good form of Argentinean front man Sergio Aguero, who after a disappointing campaign last season has once again shown why he is one of the most lethal strikers in the world. The 25 year old has scored five times in the last three games and also scored against Chelsea last time the two sides met in a FA Cup tie back in April this year.

Samir Nasri another player who has been impressive this season, spoke of his team’s good run but warned his teammates of a stern test against Chelsea, who under Jose Mourinho and at home will be very difficult to break down.

"Winning at West Ham and CSKA means we will go into this game with a lot more confidence," the Frenchman told the club's official website.

"It was important we started winning away in the Premier League but we know Chelsea won't be an easy game.

"I think they are more complete than they were last season - they are always a threat, especially on their own pitch and, with Jose Mourinho returning, that's even more the case so we will have to be at our best if we are to get a good result."

Pellegrini’s side will have to make the trip to London without their inspirational captain Vincent Kompany who has been ruled out due to a thigh problem. The Citizens have often struggled without the Belgian and it remains to be seen whether the City defence will be able to contain a rejuvenated Chelsea strike force.

Chelsea on the other hands have no fresh injuries but will be able to recall the services of veteran left back Ashley Cole who has recovered from a rib injury and will be in contention to start against City.
