Gomes, who penned a five-year deal with Barcelona, reveals Portugal team-mate Ronaldo congratulated him after joining the Blaugranas.
In a recent interview with TV3 the 22-year-old said:
"I spoke with him, and he congratulated me, but I'm still a rival of his - like I was at Valencia, and on the pitch, there is no friendship. In the national team I can enjoy being with him - but now I want to enjoy being with Messi."

The ex-Che is one of the few footballers that can proudly boast about sharing a dressing room with two of the biggest stars in football history Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the Portugal international pointed out that Barca's captain Andres Iniesta is also major role model for him.
"Iniesta is a reference for me in all senses. Now I want to enjoy being with him every day."
Barcelona is currently in England and they will kick-off their International Champions Cup campaign with a game against Scottish champions Celtic on June 30.
