The striker will add depth to a club where he is bound to meet some familiar faces from his time at Barcelona.

The past few months were filled with rumors regarding Luis Suárez's arrival to Major League Soccer. Today, those rumors were confirmed by Inter Miami, who have signed the footballer to join their all-star cast led by Lionel Messi.

The former Barcelona and Liverpool star left Gremio after just one season, where he scored 29 goals in 54 matches, helping the team to a second-place finish in the Brazilian Serie A. Suárez also won the Recopa Gaúcha and the Campeonato Gaúcho with Gremio prior to his signing with the Herons.

The club, led by Jorge Más and David Beckham, unveiled Suárez's signing with a post on X (formerly Twitter) that makes reference to his "Barcelona connection". The picture included in the post states "There's nothing better than playing with your friends", while adding four kids wearing jerseys for Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, and Suárez.

"Welcome Luis Suárez, to our Miami dream"

Speaking to the team's website, owner Jorge Más praised Suárez, his skills, and his potential contribution to the club.

"Luis is a fierce competitor whose winning drive embodies what we want out of our players. We promised our fans we would pursue the world's best players to build a squad that can compete at the highest echelons in the Americas. Coming off an award-winning season in Brazil, Luis will be a key addition to our roster," Más stated.

Meanwhile, Suárez did not dribble past the connections that got him to the club, while also promising to go all the way in his efforts to help the team win titles.

"I'm optimistic about what we can achieve together with our shared ambition. I will give my all to bring joy to these great fans I've heard so much about while I wear Inter Miami colors, and look forward to reuniting with great friends and players. I'm also eager to meet my new teammates and coaches,"the striker added.

Suárez signed a one-year deal with Inter Miami, meaning that this could be the only season in which he plays for the MLS side. Nonetheless, if things go as planned, the Uruguayan could extend his stay in the United States in search for more silverware to his already prestigious career.
