The English striker has entered the final year of his contract and is garnering interest from German giants Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane's future remains a heated topic, with the Englishman garnering strong interest from European powerhouses Bayern Munich due to his tricky contract situation in North London.

Spurs' talisman forward is entering the final year of his contract, and while his employers are understandably keen on renewing his deal, the club's all-time leading goalscorer is reportedly seeking an exit after enduring another trophyless campaign.

Real Madrid, who recently lost Karim Benzema to the Saudi Pro League, were credited with interest but it is Bayern Munich that have launched a credible pursuit. The Bundesliga champions bid €70M ($77M) for the 29-year-old last month but saw that rejected. Nonetheless, Thomas Tuchel's side have now returned with an €80M offer ($88M).

With newly-appointed head coach Angelos Postecoglou staging his first press conference since arriving from Celtic, all eyes were on the Australian tactician and what he would reveal about Kane's future. Daniel Levy is expected to reject Bayern's latest offer but will Spurs hold on to the Englishman for another year or cash in on him this summer?

Spurs fans hoping for a positive statement from the head coach were left disappointed as Postecoglou was coy about this topic, admitting that nothing is guaranteed.

"I haven't had any assurances. I wouldn't expect any," Angelos said, as per the Sun, when asked if Levy promised him Kane would stay.

"You're never dealing in definites with this kind of thing.

"What I know right now is Harry is part of this squad, looking forward to coming back."

However, the Australian also admitted to being eager to work with Kane. It's hard not to see why. Despite his trophyless professional career, Harry remains one of the deadliest strikers in world football and was beaten by only Erling Haaland in the Premier League Golden Boot race.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see how Levy navigates this situation. While Spurs wish to keep their striker, he will be a free agent in 12 months and could walk away for nothing. Is this a risk worth taking? Only time will tell.
