The Red Devils are on the hunt for a new striker and have identified the Spurs superstar as the perfect candidate to spearhead Ten Hag's attack next season.

Manchester United are on the hunt for a new striker and after witnessing Harry Kane combine brilliantly with Red Devils duo Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw to score the opening goal in England's 7-0 demolition of North Macedonia, fans of the Premier League giants are dreaming of seeing the Tottenham star at Old Trafford next season.

The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract at Spurs and hasn't shown signs of wanting an extension following another disappointing campaign from the North London heavyweights. As a result, Daniel Levy and Co. are facing a dilemma: sell your best player and one of the most talented strikers in the globe now or risk losing him for free next summer.

The Red Devils have identified the Englishman as a key target as Ten Hag wants a proven goalscorer to spearhead his attack next season after heavily relying on one man – Marcus Rashford – last term. And to make things better, the Tottenham all-time top scorer is reportedly keen on a move to the Theatre of Dreams despite not publicly communicating his plans for the future.

According to the Daily Mail, while Manchester United have cooled their pursuit of the Englishman due to Spurs' hefty demands, Kane hopes the Red Devils reignite their attempts to sign him. This proves that the striker is keen on an Old Trafford switch, which isn't surprising, given that the European heavyweights are on the rise under Ten Hag.

Unfortunately, a huge roadblock remains and that is Tottenham's £100M ($127M) asking price. Manchester United have already informed Spurs that they will not meet that valuation for a player who is nearly 30 and in the final year of his contract, hence why the Red Devils are now exploring other targets, namely Atalanta sensation Rasmus Hojlund.

If Tottenham drop that price to £80M (just over $100M), then Ten Hag's side could re-enter negotiations for the Three Lions captain. However, the likelihood of this occurring is low given Daniel Levy's track record of being a tough negotiator.

Spurs do not wish to sell to a Premier League side as that would weaken them while strengthening a direct rival. While there is interest from abroad, namely Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and PSG, neither of those European giants are ready to meet Levy's demands.

As a result, Kane is expected to remain for an additional season before leaving on a free in the summer of 2024. Manchester United, meanwhile, do not wish to get embroiled in dragged-out transfer sagas similar to their Frenkie de Jong pursuit last summer and are already prioritizing a move for Mason Mount.
