With Manchester City’s superstar striker Sergio Aguero missing 8 games in the English Premier League this season, 4 in the Champions League, it is of little surprise that the Citizens are rumored to be in the market for a forward.
The Argentine attacker has scored a respectable 7 goals in the English top-flight alone, but 4 seperate injuries and illness have limited Kun to only 10 appearances so far.
With the Etihad sides’ two other senior attackers Wilfried Bony and Raheem Sterling sharing a mere 9 goals between them, a world-class scorer could be exactly what Manuel Pellegrini’s crew need.
Transfer rumors have been linking Man City with the league’s joint top-scorer of 2015-16, Jamie Vardy, as his explosive form in front of goal has helped lead Leicester City to the top three in the standings, with 15 strikes in the first half of the campaign.
And that’s not only it. The Sky Blues are also rumored to be after Barcelona sensation Neymar, the club and Spanish Primera Division leading scorer, with the Brazilian admitting to being aware of City’s interest.
However, according to The Guardian, City have “categorically” ruled out signed the Englishman and Selecao ace in the upcoming January transfer window.
Neymar, in top-form this campaign, is in talks with the Blaugrana over contract extension, with the player’s statement over the Citizens’ reported interest seen as tactics in order to secure a bumper new deal at Camp Nou.
However, with Pep Guardiola believed to be set for a touchdown at the Etihad this summer, new names could be targeted, meaning the door could still be open to Neymar and Vardy.
