Following their controversial Gold Cup victory, Mexico starts a series of four games under newly appointed coach Ricardo Ferretti, who took over Miguel Herrerra's coaching duties after "El Piojo" was sacked after winning CONCACAF's tournament.
Facing the North American giants will be Trinidad & Tobago, a team that left quite a good impression during the recently concluded regional tournament, winning their group ahead of Mexico.
For this game, Ferretti called up most of the players Herrera did during his 18 months in charge, but left out three key players: goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, and brothers Jonathan & Giovani Dos Santos.
Mexico
El Tri starts a two-game tour in the U.S., where they will face the Caribbean side and Argentina. Carlos Vela, PSV Eindhoven's Andres Guardado and América's goalkeeper Moisés Muñoz will be leading the Mexicans in their game against T&T given the absence of some key players such as Oribe Peralta and Javier Hernández, who will join El Tri for the second match of the tour.
Legendary center back Rafael Márquez is expected to perform in any of the upcoming games, since his experience and skills will be needed for the Confederations Cup playoff, which will be held in October.
Trinidad & Tobago
The Soca Warriors will be using this match to give some newcomers a chance to earn their spot in the National Team. Coach Stephen Hart decided to excuse striker Kenwyne Jones and defender Sheldon Bateau, since both were still deciding where they would continue playing.
Nevertheless, there will be a handful of players that played against Mexico during the recently concluded Gold Cup. Midfielders Cordell Cato and Kevan George, both playing in the MLS, will be the ones in charge of creating danger against El Tri, while defenders Joevin Jones and Yohance Marshall will try to top Mexico's strikers. In fact, Marshall's Mexican football experience should come in handy, since he currently performs for Murcielagos FC, a second-tier team in Mexico.

This will be the 20th match between both National Teams. Mexico has won 12 of their past meetings, with four draws and three wins for the Soca Warriors. Their previous game was held on July 15, which ended up with a thrilling 4-4 score.
