Preview: Germany vs England
Both Germany and England will be seeking a much needed win when die Mannschaft and the Three Lions go head to head on Tuesday evening. The hosts come into this game having had to settle for a disappointing one-all draw with Italy, during which Hansi Flick's men had to come from behind to snatch a point. The result means that Germany are unbeaten in their last ten games across all comps, and will also have added incentive to beat England on Tuesday.
After all, the Three Lions, who unfortunately ended up losing EURO 2020 on penalties to Italy, are the last team to have beaten the four-time World Cup winners in any competition. Germany are also hoping to put on a stronger show at this year's World Cup after their 2018 humiliating performance, but for now, they will be focused on trying to get into the latter stages of the UEFA Nations League on their third attempt.
England, for their part, suffered an embarrassing 1-0 loss to lowly Hungary, during which Gareth Southgate's side were actually jeered by a stadium full of children after opting to take the knee. Southgate also opted to try out some previously untested players, and it backfired miserably as the Three Lions, for the first time in 14 matches, were unable to find the back of the net.
More concerning is that England have failed to score in their last three away games in this tournament, so it is safe to say that they will be looking to end that hoodoo when they take on a very familiar rival on Tuesday evening.
