By now, we all know that Argentina is struggling to make it to the World Cup. What really baffles the world of football is that, even with Lionel Messi as captain and leader of this team, there seems to be little hope for Argentina's success when they clash against Ecuador.

Argentina's players have scored 16 times, the second worst tally in the current qualifiers. Only Bolivia has scored less times, sending the ball into the back of the net 14 times.
Lionel Messi leads his Argentina's strikers with four goals, and even if he's always giving his best, he will need some help from his team-mates if they want to book tickets to Russia.

Playing against Ecuador might seem like a walk in the park, considering that La Tricolor is already eliminated. Nevertheless, stats show that playing in Quito has always been complicated for La Albiceleste. In fact, Argentina hasn't walked away from Quito with all the points since 2001, losing twice and drawing the most recent game against the yellow and blue side.
