After winning the English Premier League in excellent fashion last season, Antonio Conte’s has become a popular figure among the Chelsea supporters. Unfortunately, the end of his Stamford Bridge reign is tipped to be near.
The topic of his Chelsea future was discussed on BBC 5 live Sport, with Rory Smith of New York Times claiming that the club understand that this will be the Italian manager’s last season at the club.
Many reasons were given: firstly, Conte has always seen this job as a short-term employment for three to five seasons at the most. Additionally, a recent contract signed with the Blues which only increased his wages but not the duration of his employment raised red flags.
Furthermore, there are rumors of friction between Conte and the board. The Italian wants big signings to compete in England and the Champions League, but Chelsea are keen on young players with high resale value. Watch the discussion on BBC 5 live Sport.
