Several reports emerged last weekend that the English Premier League champions were subject to strong interest in star striker Jamie Vardy, with recent speculation claiming that Arsenal are on the brink of signing the Three Lions forward.
Currently on international duty with Roy Hodgson’s crew, preparing for the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament, the 29-year-old was instrumental in the Foxes’ unforgettable title-winning season, scoring 24 goals and sweeping up the BPL Player of the Season award.
Now, The Sun claim that Vardy isn’t the only King Power Stadium ace being chased by the Gunners. According to the British tabloid, Arsene Wenger’s crew are also after north African sensation Riyad Mahrez, as Arsenal aim to end their 12-year wait for the league crown.
As stated in the report, the PFA Player of the Season winner has a “low” release clause, which has alerted the north London giants. However, the exact estimate of his release clause is not mentioned, nor have The Sun stated any details behind the reported deal being offered.
Should the rumors prove true and the deal goes through, the Leicester City duo will arrive at the Emirates Stadium and join up with summer signing Granit Xhaka, another player gearing up for the Euros.
