If you haven’t heard of Ousmane Dembele, odds are that the Rennes striker’s name will be on everyone’s mind, as the Ligue 1 starlet is racking interest from several of Europe’s elite clubs.
Many of the English Premier League’s biggest clubs have been rumored to be after the 18-year-old Frenchman, with Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool reportedly keen on securing the starlet’s services.
However, according to one German news outlet, the Premier League has lost out in the race to land Dembele to a fellow European league: the Bundesliga.
As written by Bild, BVB have beaten competition from England to sign the Rennes ace, with Atletico Madrid from Spain also missing out on the up-and-coming attacker.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have reportedly agreed a summer deal for the 19-year-old for a fee worth €5m, a price tag which may raise questions over the legitimacy of this report.
With 12 goals and 5 assists in 24 appearances, France Football claimed that Dembele’s employers had knocked back an offer from Barca worth €35m.
Furthermore, Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich were linked with the Dembele, with beIN Sports claiming that the Bavarians had struck a deal with the French outfits which would see him loaned back immediately.
