Regardless of what happened on Saturday's Clásico, Atletico's coach Diego Simeone believes Barça will be as dangerous as ever when they meet in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter-final clash.
The Argentine tactician shared his thoughts about the crucial meeting, hinting that his crew can benefit from the frequency of the games against Los Blaugranas, a side they have been able to study and will try to defeat.
"We go way back, and for us, it's a good thing to play against them on a regular basis. They are currently displaying superb form under Luis Enrique, and it will be hard for any team to separate from their style of play. A good outcome at Camp Nou Stadium would be to leave here with the win," Simeone stated.
Simeone took some time to analyze what went on during Saturday's clash, which saw Real Madrid winning against their opponents tomorrow. Even if that game showed how Barcelona can be hurt, Simeone dismissed the idea of playing a similar match.
"Real Madrid had more balance with Casemiro's presence than the one James or Isco could provide, and then they used their attacking players' skills to damage them when the game was coming to a close. We can't play like them because we have other qualities to benefit from," he added.
The last time these teams met in a UCL Quarter final clash saw Los Colchoneros defeating Barcelona with a 2-1 aggregate two years ago. The red-and-white side walked away with a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou during the first leg, and ended up defeating the Blaugrana side 1-0 at Vicente Calderón Stadium.
