Manchester United on-form forward Wayne Rooney scored a brilliant thunderbolt against Liverpool to hand the Red Devils a 1-0 win over their bitter rivals at their backyard.
The England international is now the player with the highest number of goals for a Premier League club. This comes just a few months after he was named England’s highest scorer of all-time with 50 goals when he netted a penalty against Switzerland while on international duty. Prior to Rooney’s goal against Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was the record holder of the highest number of goals scored for a single club in the Premier League.
Here are the top five highest scorers for a single club in the history of the Premier League
Wayne Rooney- Manchester United - 176 goals
Thierry Henry- Arsenal- 175 goals
Allan Shearer- Newcastle United- 148 goals
Frank Lampard - Chelsea- 147 goals
Robbie Fowler- Liverpool- 128
Football fans on Twitter heaped praises on the former Everton man:

Only took Rooney an extra 100+ league games to break Henry's record. Well done.
