The Italian playmaker stated earlier this season that he will stop playing when his body can't take it anymore, but his wife revealed it could be very soon.

Every legend must come to an end, and Francesco Totti's legend could be close to becoming one.

In an TV show aired on Monday, Totti's wife Ilary Blasi revealed that her husband is sure that his time as a Serie A footballer coud be over with the season, having spent more than 100 days out due to injury.

"Retirement? We're there," Blasi said. "Next year he will be 40 years old. Francesco has had a great career, to the extent that now he's thinking what else he wants to do. But he will stay within the sport," the TV personality stated.

Totti's illutrious career with Roma could be over after 22 seasons, where he ha only won one Scudetto with the Giallorossi. As of now, the "King of Rome" has only played three games this season, scoring his 300th goal as a Roma player against Sassuolo. The playmaker has scored 244 goals for the Giallorossi in domestic games, good enough to become the 2nd most prolific scorer in the Italian top flight behind Silvio Piola's 274 goals.

After recovering from a thigh injury, Totti could finally get some playing time this Wednesday, when Rudi Garcia's side faces Chievo.

Totti celebrated one of his goals last season with a pic to remember.
