Rumors had the German joining either Spanish or English clubs. His new contract will no longer have a buyout clause.

Good news for Borussia Dortmund fans, midfielder Marco Reus has reached an agreement with the club until 2019. This sets an end to the speculation that had Reus moving out to clubs in either England or Spain.

This new deal also takes away the buyout clause of his previous contract, making sure fans see him on a regular basis at Westfalenstadion. Leaders in the team's organization believe this was the right thing to do.

Reus made the official announcement via Twitter

Even with Dortmund struggling to stay in the Bundesliga, Reus was showed to be happy about staying. The German is now valued in 44,00m £. It is more than twice as much as when he arrived in 2012.

"Marco Reus could have joined nearly every top club in the world. He has shown that his heart beats for his hometown and his hometown club,” Michal Zorc, Dortmund’s Sporting Director, said.

The club's Twitter page also announced Reus decision

The 25-year-old started his career with Dortmund’s junior teams and then went to Rot Weiss Ahlen to make his professional debut. In 2009, he transferred to Borussia Mönchengladbach for three years before landing with his current team.

For the CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, this deal can make Reus go from being a fan-favorite to a legendary player in the club. A height that few players in the organization have reached.

“Reus can define an era in Dortmund just like Uwe Seeler has done at Hamburg or Steven Gerrard at Liverpool,” Watzke said to the club's official website.

How happy should fans be about this deal? Coach Jurgen Klopp has the answer

Reus made the final decision. Following his former teammates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich seemed like a good option based on the struggles of his current team that currently in 16th place after 20 games this season.

“My heart has decided. Let's get it started. We want to achieve a lot of things. Not only this season." Reus said on his Facebook page.
