De Oekraïense Premier League vertegenwoordigt het hoogste niveau van professioneel voetbal in Oekraïne. Deze werd oorspronkelijk opgericht in 1991 onder de naam "Vyshcha Liha". In 2008 onderging de competitie een naamswijziging en werd het bekend als de "Oekrainska Premier Liha" (Oekraïense Premier League).
Georganiseerd door de Oekraïense voetbalfederatie, functioneert de Oekraïense Premier League (of UPL) volgens een systeem van promotie en degradatie waarbij een bepaald aantal laagst presterende teams aan het einde van elk seizoen degradeert naar de Persha Liha (eerste divisie). Tegelijkertijd worden een vaststaand aantal van de best presterende teams in de Persha Liha gepromoveerd naar de Premier League. De competitie hanteert een dubbele roulatie-opzet, waarbij elk team twee keer speelt (zowel thuis als uit). Daarnaast is er aan het einde van het seizoen een degradatie-play-off wedstrijd voor de teams die niet automatisch gedegradeerd zijn.
Teams die deelnemen aan de Oekraïense Premier League kunnen ook deelnemen aan de Oekraïense Cup. Afhankelijk van de eindklassering, kunnen teams zich ook kwalificeren voor diverse UEFA competities, waaronder de UEFA Champions League, de Europa League, of de Europa Conference League.
Dynamo Kyiv en Shakhtar Donetsk zijn veruit de meest succesvolle teams in de geschiedenis van de Premier League. Dit duo heeft het Oekraïense voetballandschap gedomineerd sinds de oprichting van de competitie in 1991. Tot op heden zijn zij de enige twee Oekraïense clubs die ooit een UEFA-competitie hebben gewonnen.
De media-aandacht voor de Premier League in Oekraïne heeft de afgelopen decennia flink gevarieerd. In eerste instantie waren de tv-uitzendrechten op de Premier League in het bezit van UT-1, de publieke omroep van het land. Echter, in de latere jaren van het eerste decennium van de 21ste eeuw, hebben een reeks betaaltelevisieproviders, waaronder Voetbal 1/2 en Setanta Sports, de tv-uitzendrechten verworven.
Aan het begin van de jaren 2020 vernieuwde Setanta Sport hun tv-uitzend- en livestreaming-rechten in een meerjarige overeenkomst. De omroep deelt tevens mediarechten met de openbare aanbieder Suspilne Sport, die specifieke Premier League-wedstrijden uitzendt op zijn vrij te ontvangen tv-kanalen.
