De UEFA Nations League, ook bekend als de Nations League of UNL, is een tweejaarlijkse competitie voor de senior nationale voetbalteams van Europa. Het toernooi werd voor het eerst gelanceerd in september 2018, waarbij Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal leidde om de inaugurele titel te winnen. Ze versloegen hun tegenstander met 1-0 in de finale op 9 juni 2019.
In totaal nemen 55 UEFA nationale teams deel aan dit toernooi, waarbij de deelnemers zijn onderverdeeld in vier divisies: League A, League B, League C en League D. Zestien landen bereiken de eerste divisie, 16 de tweede, nog eens 16 de derde, terwijl de resterende zeven in de laatste divisie worden geplaatst. Elke divisie bestaat uit vier groepen met uitzondering van League D, die slechts twee groepen heeft. Rankings bepalen de potten waaruit de groepen worden getrokken, waarbij elke groep bestaat uit drie tot vier landen. De teams spelen zowel thuis- als uitwedstrijden om de winnaars van de groep te bepalen.
De UEFA Nations League hanteert een promotie- en degradatiesysteem. De vier groepswinnaars en de tweede plaats van League A stromen door naar een tweepotige kwartfinale. De winnaars van deze ronde gaan vervolgens door naar de halve finale. Zowel de halve finales als de finale zijn single-leg wedstrijden. De groepswinnaars in de competities B, C en D krijgen promotie, terwijl de laagstgeplaatste teams in de competities A en B degraderen. League C heeft vier groepen, terwijl League D slechts twee heeft. Hierdoor worden de twee laagst gerangschikte teams in League C automatisch gedegradeerd.
Het seizoen is verdeeld in twee fasen: de competitiefase en de finalefase. De UEFA Nations League, die internationale vriendschappelijke wedstrijden vervangt in het voordeel van competitief voetbal tijdens de FIFA International Match-kalender, biedt teams een extra kans om zich te kwalificeren voor het Europees kampioenschap. Hierbij worden namelijk vier van de 24 deelnemers voor de Euro's bepaald door de Nations League Play-offs.
Fox Sports heeft een overeenkomst van zes jaar met de UEFA gesloten, die hen van 2022 tot 2028 live-uitzendrechten verleent voor verschillende UEFA-wedstrijden, inclusief de UEFA Nations League. De uitzendingen van deze competitie worden in de VS uitgezonden op verschillende platformen van de zender, waaronder FS1 en FS2.
In het Verenigd Koninkrijk heeft Channel 4 de uitzendrechten voor 2022 tot 2028 veiliggesteld voor alle wedstrijden van het Engelse nationale team. Alle andere wedstrijden die niets van doen hebben met de 'Drie Leeuwen' worden uitgezonden op de talrijke platforms van VIALPAY Group, inclusief Vilay Sport 1 en Vilasplay Sport 2, evenals de livestreamingdienst VIALPAY UK.
