EPL final day roundup: Salah makes history, Wenger sets record in his last game

May 14, 2018 By Ali M.
Wenger bowed out of Arsenal by surpassing a feat previously held by Sir Alex Ferguson, with many others setting records on Sunday.

The 2017/18 Premier League season has finally ended. Another thrilling campaign in the English top-flight has come to a wrap on Sunday.

All the 10 games of the final Matchday kicked off simultaneously, with only one of the top six sides suffering a defeat. That was Chelsea, losing 3-0 at Newcastle.

Elsewhere, Swansea’s relegation was confirmed after losing 2-1 to Stoke Here are the most interesting stats from the final Premier League round of this term.

Salah makes history

Liverpool may not have been the best team this season, but Mohamed Salah has been the standout player this term. On Sunday, the Egyptian got his hands on the Golden Boot, beating Harry Kane to the award.

He also set a record, becoming the first player to score 32 goals in a 38-game campaign.

Wenger writes his name in history

Wenger’s final game as Arsenal manager saw the Gunners win 1-0 at Huddersfield, their first away victory in 2018.

It was also his 48th win in a different stadium, surpassing the previous record held by Sir Alex Ferguson (47).

Man City reaches the 100-point mark

No team has ever reached 100 points in a single Premier League season until now. The Citizens’ win over Southampton saw them reach that landmark which was also a first in Guardiola’s managing career.

Tottenham: the best team in London?

With Chelsea and Arsenal struggling this season, Tottenham finished the season as the highest-ranked London club. This is the first time Spurs finished ahead of their neighbors since 1994/95.
