Team news

Man United

Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are suspended for this clash after picking up their fifth yellow cards of the season last weekend. Michael Carrick and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be given a starting berth at the midfield.

West Ham

Diafra Sakho is a major doubt after picking up what seemed to be a hamstring injury in the second-half against the Red Devils last weekend. This could pave way for striker Ashley Fletcher, a former Man Utd player, to lead the attack for the visitors.

Match forecast

Manchester United are a frustrated lot – they have not won any of their last four league games at Old Trafford. But the results have been quite different in other competitions such as the Europa League at the same venue. The EFL Cup gives Mourinho’s men another chance to correct their wastefulness in front of goal last weekend, a factor that hugely influenced the final result of the game.

West Ham, on the other hand, have been performing poorly in the Premier League. The East London club sits at the 16th spot in the league with only 12 points out of 13 games. A win for Man Utd is the most likely result here as they are the stronger side and have the home ground advantage.
