The former defender will fill Ronald Koeman's shoes with the Oranje side until the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It is not frequent to see a National Team playing three games in the same international break, and Dutch coach Frank De Boer seemed to complain about that fact prior to the first of three matches his team will play in this break.

Speaking in today's press conference, the former defender admitted that getting to know his players will be interesting, but having the game against Mexico days before their UEFA Nations League match will certainly complicate things a bit in his first game as Dutch boss.

"Ideally, the best thing would have been not to play this friendly game. We could have used a larger relaxation period ahead of the crucial game we will have on Sunday," De Boer stated.

De Boer had to step up to become the Netherlands' new boss following Ronald Koeman's appointment as Barcelona's new coach. One of his duties as coach will be to keep his squad motivated for their upcoming games, and that will see him trying to rotate his team as frequently as possible to keep his players healthy and ready for any upcoming games.

"We know that our players perform in the best leagues and we know what people want to see, but we're dealing with the Dutch team's hierarchy. We will have under consideration that the season is just beginning when we are preparing our team to play in these few games, De Boer added.

The Netherlands are set to face Mexico on October 7. Then, De Boer's team will play against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Italy in their quest to make the Final Four in the UEFA Nations League.
