On Wednesday, formalities were finally complete as a new Lionel Messi contract was finally announced. Barcelona took to Twitter to put an end to rumors of an exit, by announcing his new four-year deal.
This means the 30-year-old will be under contract at Camp Nou until 2021. Should the Argentine see out this contract before leaving, he will depart from Catalonia at the age of 35.

There is also a buyout clause in his new deal, according to Sky Sports News HQ reporter Kaveh Solhekol. Unsurprisingly, Barcelona have set it at an impossible-to-trigger number: £263m.
His wages are also staggering. The same reporter who tweeted about his release clause wrote that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner will be earning £500,000 per week.
This new deal means bad news for the Premier League and PSG. The likes of Man City, Chelsea, and the Ligue 1 giants have all been linked with a move for Messi during negotiations.
La Pulga will now remain at the club he joined when he was 13 – and probably will retire there. This also means MSN will be back next year to torment Spanish Primera Division defenders thanks to their star’s extension.
