Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane could make history on Saturday. However, speaking ahead of the game, the French icon was forced to speak about the Champions League’s legendary player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Zizou could become the first manager to win back-to-back titles in what has been an excellent managerial career so far. The Frenchman’s remarkable playing career, though, was the interest of one report.
The World Cup winner was asked who is better – Cristiano or himself. The Real Madrid manager did not think for a second.
“Ronaldo, no doubt. He scores goals and that’s most important," said Zidane (as per the Independent).
“I used to play quite well but scoring goals was not my speciality. I was better at assists. I scored some important goals but not many."
The French icon rates himself below the four-time Ballon d’Or winner despite winning the World Cup and the Champions League. Ronaldo, on the other hand, is chasing his fourth Champions League crown on Saturday.
The 32-year-old has registered a staggering 404 goals in 393 games for the Madrid giants. His goals this season were crucial in helping Los Blancos reach the final in Cardiff.
The former Man United ace scored eight goals in three games over the last 8 and last 4, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Bayern Munich and Atletico.
The Real Madrid attack also became the first player to score 100+ goals in UEFA’s top-tier club competition. Only Juventus stands in his way of another title.
