Team news

PSG

Unai Emery's men come into this fixture off the back of a 3-1 loss to Monaco before the international break. Les Parisiens have not appeared to be the same side that swept aside the competition last term, and the departure of talismanic striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to have had a massive impact on the side. Of course, the absence of key defenders Thiago Silva and Marquinhos due to injury and international duty respectively has not helped matters. Still, with their crunch tie against Arsenal coming up on the 13th, Emery will likely rotate his squad for this game.

Although Marco Verratti has returned to the fold after a long absence, Javier Pastore and Jese are both in doubt for this fixture. The Argentinian is struggling with a calf problem, whilst the Spaniard is recovering following an attack of appendicitis.

Saint-Etienne

One win, one draw, and one loss see Les Verts presently sitting in 10th place on four points. Christophe Galtier recently lost Pierre-Yves Polomat due to injury, but other from that will have a full-strength squad available for this fixture. On another note, the French tactician will be hoping to take advantage of PSG's uncertain form and end his own personal hoodoo against the capital giants this Friday.

Galtier has yet to defeat Les Parisiens in 11 prior attempts whilst Laurent Blanc was in charge. It will be very interesting, then, to see if he will finally be able to get the better of the reigning French champions.

  • Lyon and Bordeaux have met 49 times prior to Saturday's fixture
  • Les Gones have won 21 times, whilst les Girondins have won 11

Team news

Lyon

With the Champions League kicking off, Bruno Génésio's men are in for a busy fixture list between now and October. Les Gones will take part in six games alone this month, which includes two European ties against Europa League kings Sevilla and Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb. Of major concern will be the fitness of key man Alexandre Lacazette. The French international, who has netted six goals so far, suffered an injury during Lyon's tie with newly promoted Dijon.

In fact, his substitution caused quite a bit of distress for his teammates, as Lyon went from tied at 2-2 during the first period to falling to a 4-2 setback. Still, the international break may have done him some good, and he will need to pass a late fitness test to determine if he can feature Other absentees for the hosts include Mathieu Valbuena and Nabil Fekir due to groin and knee injuries respectively, as well as Emanuel Mammana due to suspension.

Bordeaux

Les Girondins suffered a 4-1 humiliation on opening day, but managed to rebound to pick up a hard-fought 1-0 result against Nantes. However, they will be taking on a side who have been pretty solid at home, with eight wins in their past nine games. Although Bordeaux did defeat Lyon 3-1 last season, they have not done so on their opponents' home turf in nearly four years.
