"I didn't want to stress out my father- ultimately, it was a personal decision, though they did play a part as well."
The ex-Valencia player was also full of praise for Real Madrid boss Zidane.
"Zidane was a very important player for me and I consider him a role model to emulate, just like Andres Iniesta, who I now have the pleasure of playing alongside of."

In addition, the 23-year-old talked about his superstar international team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, saying:
"Cristiano Ronaldo is my international teammate, I respect him a lot, but on the pitch, we are opponents and friendship is left aside."
