England and Wales enjoyed two different beginnings to their UEFA Euro 2016 campaign.
One stormed to a dream debut in the tournament, beating Slovakia 2-1 to clinch three points in their first ever European Championship game. The other threw away a 1-0 lead in stoppage time to settle for a disappointing draw, a result which was followed by fan violence.
These two British sides will now lock horn on Thursday in Group B. There can only be one winner – or a share of spoils – when Roy Hodgson’s men face off with Chris Coleman’s boys at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
Team news – who’s fit and who’s not?
The Three Lions have no injury worries ahead of Thursday’s game, but coach Roy Hodgson does face a selection headache, as he will have to make a tough choice between reshuffling the starting eleven that drew with Russia, or stick with the same lineup.
Last season’s English Premier League top-scorer Harry Kane was the lone striker in the 1-1 draw, but endured a torrid game. Hodgson will thus have to decide whether to add Leicester star Jamie Vardy into the mix, or even the rookie who keeps grabbing the spotlight: Marcus Rashford.
In midfielder there are tough decisions to make, as the likes of Jack Wilshere and Ross Barkley are vying for a starting eleven spot, which means either captain Wayne Rooney or Adam Lallana may make way.
The Dragons are facing a race against time to get goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey fit in time for the England clash, as he is yet to fully recover from a back spasm. Danny Ward stepped in for the Crystal Palace custodian, and could be called upon once more if Hennessey fails to recover.
