The Argentinean boss decided to leave marquee names such as Radamel Falcao and Jackson Martínez back home, and now the future of La Selección Colombia will rest on what James Rodriguez and Carlos Bacca can do to lead the team to greatness.
Furthermore, the world will be eager to know what debutant striker Roger Martínez can do, considering he is the youngest member of this squad and Pekerman chose him to take Falcao's place up front.
On the other side of the pitch, Haiti was paired up against three South American teams in the continental tournament, making their chances of progression rather slim. Nevertheless, Patrice Neveu's side is used to shock the world of football, just like they did last year during the Gold Cup, when they reached the quarter-final stage.
Neveu's team has its fair share of talent, with goalkeeper Johnny Placide bossing around the team as captain, and Wisla Krakow's Donald Guerrier, who's seven goals with Les Grenadiers make him quite a threat for opposing defenses.
