It really and truly has now come down to the wire. Portuguese football fans surely must be on the edge of their seats. This time, Benfica have some serious competition for the 2015/2016 Primeira Liga crown. Ironically perhaps, rivals Sporting CP are being led by former Eagles manager Jorge Jesus, and the Lions are within touching distance of winning their first league title since 2002.
Benfica supporters probably had their doubts about incoming coach Rui Vitoria at the start of this season, but he has performed admirably since his arrival. It was under his guidance that the team made a solid run to the quarter-finals, where they were narrowly edged out 3-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich. To date, they have only suffered two home defeats in league play. Both of these were against fellow "Big Three" sides Porto and Sporting CP.
Currently on a 11-match winning streak, Benfica will be obviously seeking to make it a perfect 12. A draw could suffice - provided that Sporting CP either lose or draw their own game against fourth-placed Sporting Braga. This is really how close this title race is heading into the final game of the 2015/2016 Primeira Liga campaign.

Naturally, Benfica will be counting on their good historical record to help them through in their must-win game against Nacional. The Eagles have not lost to Nacional since August 21, 2010 and overall have just lost four out of their past 32 meetings across competitions. Furthermore, their upcoming opponents have won just one of their prior five fixtures.
With 90 minutes separating them from a historic 35th league title, will Benfica be able to overcome this final hurdle to get onto the winners' podium? Or will Nacional throw a monkey wrench into their plans?
