The defender criticized the referee for not sending Diego Costa off the pitch, illustrating his allegations with a picture.

Following his red card on Sunday, Argentinian defender Pablo Zabaleta apologized for his behavior in the 1-1 draw between his club, Manchester City, and the current Premier League leader, Chelsea:

The Argentinian player told reporters how he felt the game should have ended, given the circumstances before he left the pitch:

"We were doing a fine job, playing like we were supposed to, but then, a very unfortunate play came along and I had to leave the pitch. The referee never told me if he was sending me off because of the foul or because of the argument we had later," Zabaleta explained. "I feel a little frustrated, because I think that we were in a good position to win if I wasn't sent off. In the end, with the standings as they are, earning one point wasn't that bad for us."

Using his Twitter feed, the player questioned the referee's judgement on the play that got him off the pitch:
