Brazil's 2014 World Cup campaign has turned from a dream to a total nightmare for the home fans.
The five-time champions kicked off their campaign with a bang, winning the opening game 3-1 against Croatia, but the tournament became a nightmare for them as they fell to a humiliating 7-1 loss to Germany in the semi-finals, ending their 62 competitive games unbeaten run.

22-year-old ace Neymar's injury, accompanied with Thiago Silva's suspension, saw Brazil's World Cup hopes come to a cruel end. More misfortune was to come for the host nation as they lost their third-place final match against Netherlands 3-0 with goals coming from Robin van Persie, Daley Blind, and Georginio Wijnaldum dooming the 2002 winners to a fouth-place finish.
More tears for Brazil fans as the Selecao lost the third-place final to Netherlands 3-0
This result saw Brazil become only the third side in World Cup history, alongside Saudi Arabia and North Korea, to concede 12+ goals in a single tournament. This was also the first time the Selecao lost consecutive games since 1974, and was their first consecutive home losses since 1994.

Before last Tuesday, #BRA hadn't lost at home since 2002 and in competition football since 1975. Now twice in a week, and 10 conceded. Ouch.

Worst generation of Brazilian football. In 1962, #BRA had Garrincha & Pele as forwards. In 2002, had Ronaldo & Denílson, now have Fred & Jô.

David Luiz, in particular, was singled out as he was present at both Brazil's 7-1 and 3-0 losses
Brazil play like an amateur outfit, and I'm sorry PSG but David Luiz is not a defender and never will be.

David Luiz really has shown how good he can be at bringing others into play - a pity the 'others' were often opposing players. #WorldCup
