Die Schwarzgelben and Les Parisiens will renew acquaintances for the third time in this season's Champions League when they lock horns in the semi-finals on Wednesday, May 1st.

For the third time in this season's Champions League, Borussia Dortmund and PSG will match wits - except this time, the stakes will be much higher. Die Schwarzgelben and Les Parisiens squared off twice in this season's group stages, which ended as a 2-0 win for PSG on matchday one and a one-all draw on the final matchday. Despite this, Edin Terzic's team managed to finish top of their quartet by three points, which earned them a spot in the round of 16 against Dutch outfit PSV.

After winning that tie 3-1 on aggregate, Dortmund were pitted against Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals. Although they lost 2-1 in the first leg, die Schwarzgelben managed to battle to a 4-2 victory in a six goal thriller that ensured that they booked a spot in the final four following a 5-4 aggreagte victory. Now standing in their way and a spot in this season's final will be two more matches, which interestingly, will see them face the same side that caused them plenty of worries during the group stages.

Dortmund, who will be hosting the semi-finals first leg, come into this contest having lost 4-1 to RB Leipzig in their most recent fixture. That sees Terzic's squad sitting in fifth spot, but they will be firmly focused on the task ahead on Wednesday, as they are in their fourth Champions League semi-finals and their first in well over a decade.

Interestingly, should Dortmund win this series and Bayern overcome serial Champions League winners Real Madrid, fans will be treated to another der Klassiker in this season's final and a re-match of the 2013 final, which was won by Bayern Munich. Of course, plenty can happen between now and then, and standing in Dortmund's way is a PSG side desperate to get their hands on European club football's most prestigious prize.

PSG have spent massive amounts of money over the past decade yet have repeatedly come up short in the Champions League. Les Parisiens were quite disappointing in the group stages, winning just two of their six matches and just narrowly edging out AC Milan to sneak into the round of 16. Fortunately for the cash-rich club, they received a pretty comfortable draw in the first knockout rounds and predictably had no issue in dispatching Real Sociedad 4-1 on aggregate.

A 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the quarter-finals had Les Parisiens staring down the barrel of another Champions League disappointment, but Luis Enrique, who ironically was on the tactician's bench when Barcelona pulled off one of the biggest comebacks in history against PSG, was able to steer his current team past his former employers to win the second leg 4-1 at the Camp Nou.
