Borussia Dortmund's quest for a new Bundesliga title may have been handed a big blow when they lost against Bayern Munich earlier this season, but that hasn't stopped Thomas Tuchel's side of displaying quality football whenever they step into the pitch. With that in mind, the yellow-and-black will continue their pursue of Die Roten when they face Werder Bremen, a side that's failed to impress during this Bundesliga season, but surely has the necessary weapons to shock their visitors.
Werder Bremen
Viktor Skrypnyk's side ended a six-game losing streak last week after defeating Mainz 3-1. The team's main concerns will be in defense, since they have conceded late goals that made them lose a number of games this season. To help the Ukrainian coach's side, striker Aron Johansson might enjoy some minutes if he can recover from an injury prior to the game, but if he doesn't, all eyes will be set on veteran striker Claudio Pizarro and Anthony Ujah, currently the team's top scorer with four goals.
Borussia Dortmund
Tuchel's team has scored fifteen goals in their previous three games, making them one of the most in-form teams in Europe. Particularly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been performing superbly, scoring a hat trick in two of those games, making him the biggest threat for Werder Bremen's defense. If the Gabonese striker can't work his magic on the hosts, Marco Reus and Shinji Kagawa might step up and deliver for the away team, as they have shown the skills that made them two of the most followed players in the world recently.
Head to head
Last year, during Dortmund's streak of poor perfomances, Werder Bremen won broke a four game losing streak against the team then-coached by Jürgen Klopp. In fact, Dortmund's previous wins at Weserstadion saw them score five goals in each of those games. The last game between these teams ended with a 3-2 win for Borussia, Klopp's last game as Borussia Dortmund's boss.
