Broadcast Rights

Competitions available on TV3 Sport

Viaplay has secured exclusive broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League in Sweden and Denmark until 2027. The pay-TV provider’s deal covers the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 Champions League seasons. Viaplay’s acquisition of rights in Sweden represents a significant shift from the 2021-2024 media cycle, during which Telia held the linear and digital broadcast rights in that country.
More details In addition to its exclusive Champions League rights in Sweden and Denmark, Viaplay also has non-exclusive Champions League broadcast rights in Iceland from 2024 to 2027. It shares digital and linear coverage of that competition with Icelandic broadcaster Sýn.

Subscribers in Sweden and Denmark can watch all Champions League matches live on Viaplay’s paid linear channels every season. Viewers based in Sweden, Denmark, and Iceland can stream content using a variety of devices: smart TVs (Samsung, LG, TCL, Hisense, Sony, and Philips), mobiles and tablets (both Android and iOS operating systems), computers (both PCs and Macs), streaming devices (Chromecast, Apple TV, Google TV, and Android TV), and gaming consoles (Playstation, Xbox One). A total of five devices can be registered to a single account, and no more than two streams can be running at the same time.

Football fans in Iceland, Sweden, and Denmark can also stream Viaplay’s UEFA Champions League matches on demand. The matches are generally available up to 48 hours following a live stream, while there is an additional option to rewind an already live broadcast on select devices (PCs, Macs, Android and Apple phones, LG smart TVs, Apple TV, and Chromecast). Specifically, viewers seeking to rewatch a goal or try to catch the start of the match on the same day can rewind a stream in progress for up to four hours. However, if a subscriber in Sweden, Denmark, or Iceland seeks to stream a Champions League match later in the day, more than four hours after it occurred live, they must wait for the stream to conclude and then view it later as a replay.
Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has acquired multi-platform English Premier League rights in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, in a deal that runs from 2022 to 2028. Live EPL streaming will be available on Viaplay – the leading online video streaming service in the Nordic region. Live Premier League matches and full replays may also be aired on NENT’s pay-TV and free-TV channels.
More details The deal marks the first broadcast rights agreement for the Premier League’s cycle starting with the 2022-2023 season, and it also marks the first time a European broadcaster has secured EPL rights for a six-year period.
NENT Group has retained its Bundesliga rights in the Nordic region until 2025. The broadcast deal extension will see the pan-Nordic broadcaster air over 300 live German Bundesliga matches on its streaming service Viaplay, every season. Many of these Bundesliga games will also be aired live on NENT Group’s linear television networks.
More details At least one Bundesliga match will be shown in Ultra HD format every match week. The agreement also includes pan-Nordic media rights to the German Super Cup, 2. Bundesliga and the Bundesliga relegation playoffs. Additional programming will include expert studio analysis in local languages, and match highlights.
Nordic Entertainment (NENT) Group’s OTT streaming service has acquired exclusive rights to the annual German Super Cup through 2029 following an extension on a prior four-year deal. The Super Cup will be live-streamed on Viaplay, NENT Group’s OTT service in high definition.
Viaplay extended its English FA Cup media rights in multiple Nordic territories from 2024 to 2028. Fans in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden can stream matches from English football’s oldest cup competition after signing up for the “Viaplay Total” package, which is offered on a monthly basis.
More details In addition, viewers in Sweden and Finland can watch some FA Cup matches on V Sport Premium, with games available for broadcast in HD. Fans based in Norway can watch games on V Sport 1.

Viaplay’s FA Cup streaming content is compatible with both smaller and larger screens, including mobiles and tablets (Android and iOS after downloading the Viaplay app from Google Play or the App Store), smart TVs, and streaming devices (LG, Samsung, Sony, Hisense, Apple TV, Chromecast, Nvidia Shield TV), and computers (PCs and Macs in web browsers).
NENT Group will offer about 300 2.Bundesliga matches each season until 2029 after extending their prior four-year deal with Bundesliga International. Viewers will be able to live-stream matches weekly using Viaplay’s OTT streaming service, with game-day commentary and analysis offered in Danish.
NENT Group has secured Nordic media rights to the Scottish Championship following a deal with the Scottish Professional Football League that will run for five years, from 2020 to 2025. NENT Group’s package includes 35 matches from the Scottish second-tier division along with the Scottish League Cup, and coverage will be available on OTT service Viaplay in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has extended its Nordic media rights for the Scottish Premiership in a five-year deal that will run through 2025. NENT Group’s OTT streaming service Viaplay will show 48 matches live from the Premiership every season in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

About

TV3 Sport history, coverage, features

TV3 Sport is a Danish television channel that is owned and operated by the Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) in a joint venture with TV2. The channel was launched on April 11, 2007 as TV 2 Sport, but when the Modern Times Group (the parent company for the NENT) announced its deal to acquire TV2’s share of their channel, TV2 Sport ended up being rebranded as TV3 Sport 1. The channel’s official launch came on January 7, 2013, and four years later, the channel’s name would change simply to TV3 Sport.

Over the years, this channel has made a name for itself thanks to its live broadcast deals that cover many disciplines. Sports such as football, boxing, mixed martial arts, motorsports, handball, and American football have all been covered by this channel.

Speaking about football, the channel has been able to broadcast live content for tournaments such as the Danish Superliga, the UEFA Champions League, the German Bundesliga, the English Premier League, and women’s football matches for the FA Women’s Super League or the Frauen Bundesliga, to name a few.

TV3 Sport was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but that would later change with the addition of a High-Definition feed, which mirrors most of the content aired by the SD channel. Both feeds may still be available in different pay-tv companies across the country.
