About Optus Sport
Optus Sport is a group of channels operating in Australia launched on July 13, 2016. It is owned and operated by Singtel Optus Pty Limited. The channel was formerly known as Optus Television in the early 2000s, but it was later changed to Optus Sport in 2015 after a decision by CEO Allen Lew.
The first live broadcast by Optus Sport took place on July 22, 2016. The International Champions Cup clash between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund kicked things off for this channel, with a variety of other sports broadcasting rights being added to the channel’s grid. At one point, Optus Sport has offered coverage of certain events with eleven multiplex channels.
Optus Sport has cemented its reputation as a premier sports channel by purchasing broadcasting rights to some of the top competitions in the world. This channel has aired football competitions such as the English Premier League, the J1 League, the K1 League, the FA Women’s Super League, and more. Optus Sport has also aired international club competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the International Champions Cup.
This channel has not devoted itself to air club competitions, as it has also broadcast FIFA World Cup games for both men and women, the UEFA Nations League, and other national team tournaments such as the Copa América and the UEFA European Championship.
Optus Sport is available as an IPTV channel, as a channel included in satellite TV services, and on the network’s website. Since all these alternatives do not share the same technology, a standard definition feed and a High Definition feed is available for users to watch. Check local listings in your region for further details.
