About Kayo Sports
Kayo Sports is an Australian multi-sports online streaming service, which was launched in November 2018. It provides over 15,000 hours of quality on-demand sport content, from Fox Sports, ESPN, beIN SPORTS, and Kayo originals - game/race replays, award-winning documentaries & sports related shows and news.
Thanks to its partnership with some of the largest broadcasters in Australia, it benefits from coverage of football’s biggest leagues and tournaments. Over it's existence, it has featured the French Ligue 1, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and Spanish La Liga. It has also provided streams for the Australian A-League, W-League, FFA Cup, AFC Champions League, English domestic cups and the Scottish Premiership.
Football from the Americas has been prioritized in the past as well by the Australian sports-dedicated OTT service, with the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana and Major League Soccer (MLS) all making their way to users’ screens. In addition to football, other sporting events covered on Kayo Sports revolve around American football, baseball, basketball, boxing, cricket, cycling, Formula One, golf, motorsports, rugby, tennis, and more.
Kayo Sports’ extensive collection of annual sporting events is generated by large broadcasters available in Australia, including the following: beIN SPORTS 1, beIN SPORTS 2, beIN SPORTS 3, ESPN, ESPN2, FOX 501, FOX 502, FOX SPORTS 503, FOX 504, FOX SPORTS 505, FOX SPORTS 506, FOX SPORTS MORE+ and FOX SPORTS NEWS.
As it mirrors the full programming from partner broadcasters, Kayo Sports subscribers get direct access to magazine shows, highlights and analysis programs. That is, evidently, in addition to full event replays and live airings.
Multicasts are provided via SplitView, which enables users to watch up to four streams simultaneously, all on one screen, on the device of their choice. Viewers watching the A-League have also had the luxury of skipping through their matches’ best bits via Kayo Key Moments – a feature that lets users jump to specific sections of video streams through annotations on the timeline. The OTT platform’s No Spoilers mode has also been around to let users control whether they want game scores to show on their screens or not.
Kayo Sports is available to stream on iPhones and iPads running iOS 11+, or smartphones and tablets running Android 6+. The Apple operating system requirements are similar for those watching on Apple TV (tvOS 11+), with the required 4th Generation or above. OS Version 7.0 is however the minimum for subscribers streaming on Android TV. For users on Telstra TV Box, streaming quality may be limited.
Viewers streaming Kayo Sports on the web – on Mac or PC – are advised to do so using the latest releases of major browsers – namely Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari – as well as either MacOS 10.12+ or Windows 10 and higher. Casting from mobile devices to smart TVs can be done through Chromecast, with Chromecast Ultra and the latest generation being official recommendations.
Kayo Sports’ live channels can all be watched in Australia in full HD, though subscribers may choose to downgrade video quality to standard definition (SD). In November 2019, the service was given the Best User Experience Award at the SportsPro OTT Awards in Madrid, Spain, for its efforts in providing users a rich experience through innovative measures to drive high retention and consumption in sport.
