Digi Sport 1 History, Coverage, Features
Digi Sport 1 is a Hungarian sports television channel owned and operated by Digi Communications, a Romanian telecommunications company that operates in different European countries. The channel was launched on July 23, 2009 as part of a package of three channels.
Over the years, Digi Sport 1 has been known as one of the most popular sports channels in Hungary, with a wide variety of disciplines being available on the network. Digi Sport 1 has covered sports such as football, basketball, ice hockey, tennis, water polo, motorsports, and more as time has gone by. While most of the content aired by the channel has had to do with international competitions, some domestic tournaments have also been aired on the channel.
When it comes to football, Digi Sport 1 has covered leagues such as the Serie A, Ligue 1, the Turkish Super Lig, and the English Premier League. Cup tournaments such as the Copa del Rey have also been covered by this channel. Added to that, international tournaments such as the UEFA Europa League have also been aired on this channel.
Digi Sport 1 was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light in 2015. Both feeds may still be available in most regions of the country. The channel has also been available in countries such as Romania and Slovakia, although their programming may be different than the one in the other countries.
