CNN Turk is a Turkish television channel owned by the Cable News Network (CNN) and the Demirörën Group. It was launched on October 11, 1999 to replicate the success of the American TV channel CNN.
Just as its American counterpart, CNN Turk has made a name for itself by airing breaking news, political debate shows, current affairs programming, talk shows, and sports shows. Over the years, CNN Turk has faced quite a bit of controversy due to its political stances, with members of the Republican party asking people to boycott their channel due to its partial take on the stories it has aired.
Speaking about sports, CNN Turk has covered all sorts of disciplines via highlights on their dedicated sports sections and shows on the channel’s grid. CNN Turk’s sports coverage has focused on Turkish Super Lig football, while American sports such as American football, baseball, basketball, and hockey have also enjoyed coverage due to the channel’s links to WarnerMedia.
CNN Turk was launched as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed saw the light on March 28, 2013. Both feeds work simultaneously since that date, and both feeds might be available on most pay-tv carriers in the country.
