Norwegian ace Martin Odegaard was one of Europe’s most sought after youngster prior to joining Spanish Primera Division heavyweights Real Madrid, and is reportedly still eyed by the continent’s elites.
Los Blancos beat the competition to land the former Stromsgodset midfielder a year back in January 2015, paying up €4m before he became the youngest ever debutant for the Madrid giants at the age of 16.
However, he has found playing time and first-team chances hard to come by, and thus he has mainly been limited to appearances for the B-team.
Although it remains unclear whether Odegaard has already grown frustrated with the status quo or is willing to be patient for an opportunity, Bayern Munich look to pounce and take advantage of the current situation in order to lure him from Santiago Bernabue.
This is according to the reigning Bundesliga champions’ sporting director Matthias Sammer, who admitted that although the Norwegian starlet got away from them, the Bavarians keep contact with the now 17-year-old.
Sammer recently spoke to Sky Sports Germany, in which he made comments that could be perceived as a hint at Bayern’s desire to prize Odegaard from Les Merengues, saying (as per TZ):
“There are always situations in this business where you get signals. And of course, you keep in contact.
“It was his decision [to join Real] back then, and you have to respect that.
“He is a good player, he has to bite through.”
